The sample of 2011 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Vieille Vignes tasted at the property was off, but I am so glad that Thibaut popped a replacement in the post because it is his best wine of the vintage. The nose shimmers with delineation: crisp lime, orange zest and a touch of flint define the aromatics, while the palate is just beautifully balanced and focused, retaining impressive poise from first opening until one hour later. This is perhaps one of the finest whites I have tasted from Seguin-Manuel.
