The first Zinfandel from the Pesenti Vineyard vinified by Larry Turley and Ehren Jordan is the 2000. This old, 50-acre Paso Robles vineyard is planted on pure limestone (one of the few limestone vineyards in California). It carries 15.3% alcohol. The wine is structured, with surprisingly high acidity (the limestone effect), a deep ruby/purple color, graceful black currant and raspberry flavors, and hints of pepper, minerals, and spice. This elegant, European-styled Zinfandel is atypical compared to the other Turley offerings. It should drink well for a decade.
